Popular due to its perfect location, modern facilities and brilliant staff.

Wigrams Turn is a 225 berth marina for narrowboat and wide beam vessels, offering 300 miles of cruising on the Grand Union and Oxford Canals. It hosts superb on-site amenities including 5* shower and toilet facilities, moorer's lounge, onsite shop, fuel, pump out, housekeeping and engineering services. It now also has a fantastic caravan and camping site running along side with 5 additional wooden style camping pods.

Just 20 minutes drive from the M40, M42, M1 and M6, Wigrams Turn is perfectly situated for both permanent moorings and visiting boats. It is also home to a hire fleet and several share boats.

The grounds are thoughtfully landscaped incorporating picnic benches and a garden for social events. We are a dog friendly marina and have a separate dog walking area and dog shower.

We host several berth holder events throughout the year including a summer fun day with live music, crafts, and a barbecue. There is even a regular visit from a fish and chip van. The staff are rightfully very proud of Wigrams and it shows in the glowing reports we receive from customers.

It also hosts 5 wooden cabin style pods, complete with double glazed windows and doors, lighting and electric, making a night under the stars cosy whatever the weather. Campers can enjoy the same high level of service as our boat owning customers, and the reassurance that comes with being part of the Castle Marinas Group.

  • Trevor Drury

After 30 years as a operational Director in the construction industry I decided I needed a change.

I had stayed on my narrowboat ANNIE in Willowtree Marina for many years while I worked in London, so when the opportunity came up as manager I jumped at it.

I left after two years to fulfil my ambition to sail down to the Mediterranean and then two handed across the Atlantic to Antigua.

When I arrived back I was lucky enough to land here at Wigrams Turn.

  • Brett O’Connor
    Assistant Manager

Brett joined the team in November 2020 after buying and restoring his 1977 Springer and falling in love with canal life and its community spirit.

He is responsible for the Black Prince hire fleet, the liaison for our syndicate boat owners and keeping moorers updated through our social media channels.

After cruising down from Chester, he now lives at the Marina on NB Coddiwomple and is looking forward to exploring the beautiful canal network on his doorstep.

He brings 30 years customer service and management experience from the restaurant, camping holiday and overland travel industries.

  • Faye Jones

Faye has been with Castle Marinas for coming up to three years now, working as part of the housekeeping team to ensure the holiday boats and shareboats alike are cleaned and ready for their requested departures. Plus, facilities at both Wigrams and Ventnor are kept clean and up to a high standard.
Faye lives in a nearby village with her partner, Darren and their 3 children, she has a love for all animals, especially for her palomino pony Anki, and all her other pets within their household.
  • Karen Scott

Karen brings many years of Housekeeping experience in the marine industry and we were delighted when she joined the Wigrams team as Housekeeper in October 2019.
Karen lives on her beautiful traditional narrow boat with her husband Gary (the Engineer) and Diesel (the Terrier).  Karen and Gary have had a wonderfully varied life, including living on the beautiful Shetland Isles.
  • Kieran Ashby

After many years working in the marine industry Kieran joined the Wigrams Engineering team in 2019. He works 3 days per week usually Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, although you’ll often see him helping on other days.
Kieran is very much a family man and lives with his family; Georgina, Ruth and Seb on their Historic NB Hartshill. He loves engineering and problem solving within its realms and is always up for a challenge (it doesn’t have to be engineering).
  • Brian Clensy
    Part Time Harbourmaster
After 15 years in Production Management, Brian re-trained as an Acupuncturist in the late 1970’s and has run his own practice in Coventry for the last 36 years. Having owned a boat for the last 10 years, he now lives on a 70ft narrowboat in Wigrams with his wife, Maureen, and dogs Harry and Twiggy. “Having cut down my practice to 3 days per week, I am enjoying this alternative lifestyle working with the team here at Wigrams.”
  • Martyn Tilson

Born and bred in Coventry and nearby towns, Martyn spent most of his career in accountancy or employment and health and safety law. He bought his first narrow boat in the late 90's after 10 years of hiring.

He was lured away from the high mileage, high pressure environment in 2004 to manage Calcutt Boats Marina. After 10 successful years he moved onto his narrowboat and set off to explore the system. Over wintering at Wigrams Turn proved a bad move for the retirement plan as the staff proved such a good team he succumbed to the opportunity to join part time as harbourmaster and latterly accounts.

He lives on site on his boat with wife Sue and Connie the dog.

  • Roz Gallagher
Part Time Admin Assistant (Ventnor/Wigrams Turn)

Roz joins the teams at Wigrams Turn and Ventnor Marinas to help with Admin on a part time basis.

Over the years Roz has worked in admin roles in various industries from software to aerospace.  Now she says "I am lucky enough to work in a place where I can look forward to going to, amid beautiful surroundings".

She lives in Rugby with my husband Mark and cat Loki.  They love spending time in the mountains here and abroad, but she is looking forward to learning more about canal living.  She also enjoy horse riding, wine making, home entertainment and Formula 1.

  • Gary Morgan

After 35 years in the motor industry working as a General Sales Manager and
latterly as a Regional Manager for a Vehicle Technology company, Gary
decided that there was more to life than driving 50000 miles a year on
business. Having enjoyed several narrow boat holidays, 3 years ago Gary and
his wife Sue decided to leave their jobs, sell their house and bought a
narrow boat, spending the next 3 years traveling around exploring Britain's

Originally from West London Gary, Sue and their dog Rosie love their new
lifestyle living on their narrow boat at Wigrams Turn Marina. Gary really
enjoys the variety of his new role which fully embraces his new lifestyle.

  • Lol Harrison
    Part Time Dockmaster

Lol has been a welcome and friendly face for visitors and moorers alike for many years now. He lives in the local village with his wife Pat, enjoying their caravanning holidays whenever they can.
Lol works as part-time Harbourmaster.  During the summer months he is a welcoming and happy face for all our holiday makers conducting the handovers of the boats and ensuring they start their holidays with a smile.
  • Gary Scott
    Senior Engineer

Gary Scott ‘Scotty’ has recently joined the team as Senior Engineer. We are delighted by the appointment as Scotty brings many years of marine engineering experience, plus a big smile.

Oxford Canal

The Oxford canal journies through 77 miles of picturesque scenery from Oxford to Coventry. Amongst its many attractions is its unspoilt, peaceful route. Mercifully it has managed to avoid any large-scale developments, so few towns have sprung up on its banks. The southern section is particularly charming and remains largely unaltered.

Grand Union Canal

The Grand Union Canal runs a total of 137 miles, with branches to towns along the way. It is the trunk route of Britain's canal network linking from London, through the Chilterns with Birmingham. It offers a wide variety of landscapes, wildlife, buildings, architecture and historic craft for you to discover.

At Wigrams Turn Marina our primary function is to offer a safe, secure and enjoyable boating environment for all our boating customers. We want you to get the most out of your canal or narrowboating on the UK’s inland waterways plus be able to keep your boat in a marina with the best facilities and services.
To achieve this we draw all moorers attention to the following boat and marina safety points.
There are several potential hazards within a marina environment. Pontoons are slippery when wet and icy. Please take care and wear suitable footwear. Please also take extra care at night and in strong winds.
Please do not leave any clutter, untidy cables or cycles on pontoons, these can cause a trip hazard and can impede access.

Children must be supervised at all times and must not ride in the trollies. Lifejackets are advisable.

In the event of a difficulty please contact the marina office immediately. You may want to make a note of the out of hours contact number. Harbourmasters are contactable 24 hours a day seven days a week.

Life rings and extinguishers are located around the Marina.

There is a first aid station in the Marina Office

Smoking is strictly prohibited along the length of the service quay area particularly near to the Pump Out, Diesel, Bottled Gas and Fuel areas.

Our staff are there to help you. If you doubt your ability to manoeuvre your boat in the prevailing conditions do alert the Harbourmasters who will be happy to assist.

Any damage to pontoons, facilities or boats should be reported to the Marina Office immediately.

Please also do not allow oil contaminated bilge effluent to be discharged into the marina and be aware that hot central heating or engine exhausts can scorch wooden pontoons.
