  • Lee Cooper-Blair
    Marina Manager
As a teenager Lee worked for the Black Prince Fleet at Napton Marina then went on to study Engineering at University, followed by jobs with Massey Ferguson and Calor Gas where she met husband Dave, the affinity with Canals continued as they live in the local village and regularly walk dog Phoebe on the towpaths, helping out with locks. Lee’s more recent career moved into the field of Business Consultancy and trouble shooting for small businesses. Qualified as a Business Coach, Trainer, HR Manager. Lee came back into the Marina environment 18 months ago providing some admin support in the Wigrams office part time and jumped at the opportunity to go on to apply for the Managers position. Lees own words it’s a case of “business consultant stops advising and starts doing”.
When asked her initial thoughts regarding Wigrams Turn and Ventnor she said "I love the marinas, their positions are perfect as there are so many cruising routes to take from both marinas. Plus having your car so close to you boat is an added bonus especially at Ventnor, it’s really not difficult to see why there are so many long term moorers at both marinas”
  • Karen Hughes
    Assistant Marina Manager
Assistant Manager Karen made a life changing decision 4 years ago, selling her house and moving with husband Frank and Jessie the dog to a 62 foot semi trad narrow boat, without even setting foot on a canal boat before! Karen has previous experience in customer service and administration with Mars and the National Health Service.
When asked her initial thoughts regarding Wigrams Turn and Ventnor she said…
‘I am so lucky that I have been able to find what I think is the perfect combination of hobby meets work, Wigrams is a great place to be and work and Ventnor is the most beautiful setting in the Warwickshire countryside with access to so many fantastic waterway possibilities.’

Oxford and Grand Union Canal

Wigrams Turn Marina is an inland narrowboat marina based on the junction of the Grand Union and Oxford Canals.

Oxford Canal

The Oxford canal continues through 77 miles of picturesque scenery from Oxford to Coventry. The Oxford Canal has escaped large-scale development and few towns have sprung up on its banks. The southern section is particularly charming and remains largely unaltered.

Grand Union Canal

The Grand Union Canal with 137 mile main land with branches to towns along the way is the trunk route of Britain's canal network linking from London, through the Chilterns with Birmingham via the longest single canal in Britian.

As the main line from London to the Midlands the canal was once one of the busiest in the country. Now it offers a wide variety of landscapes, wildlife, buildings, architecture and historic craft for you to discover.
