David has built up the business over the past 15years, specialising in the purchase and sales of new and second hand motor cruisers, and is proud to be a main dealer for Viking Boats.

2014 has seen the introduction of Narrowboat Sales with Chris Pallett joining David’s team. Chris has a vast knowledge of both Narrowboats and cruisers, having worked at the marina in various capacities over the past 30 years.

David and Chris pride themselves in giving good advice and excellent service to new and experienced boaters. They aim to take away any concerns by guiding their clients down the right paths, and can assist with a list of local surveyors, finance facilities and insurance, etc.

In addition to this they offer their clients a free lifting service for survey requirements, also on completion all clients are given a full demonstration and handover. Moorings are available in most instances but for customers wishing to move to other areas, arrangements can be made for delivery by road or on the waterways, and all Motor Cruisers include free delivery within 250 miles of Nottingham.

If your enquiry is for brokerage a free valuation service is available and a competitive rate of commission offered. In addition they also have a waiting list of clients looking for the right vessel across the whole range of narrowboats and cruisers, and for this reason boats are required on an ongoing basis.

Over the coming new 2014 season David Mawby Ltd will be introducing the sales of new narrowboats, from an established and prestigious builder, with the full range of craft covering all the stern options. These boats are finished to an excellent standard yet at a competitive price. The company involved also offer boats specially designed for disabled boaters.

    Ben Dalley is the local chandlery guru at Nottingham Castle Marina. He joined the team in May 2011 after a stint as a lock operator on the river Trent.  He has a huge interest in everything two wheeled and obviously boating bits too.

    Sean started working at Nottingham Castle Marina as the site maintenance engineer in November 2007. He then progressed to Chandlery Manager onsite and in 2011 became Marina Manager of Castle Marinas only city based inland marina.

Nottingham Castle Marina has 200 moorings with fixed pontoons for narrowboats, canal boats and cruisers. All pontoons have either metered or token electricity supply, water supply points, and some pontoons have television sockets supplying terrestrial television. Water is free of charge.
The pontoons are well lit at night for security reasons and safe passage. The marina is located on the Canal therefore all the pontoons are fixed and not floating, so that you have that extra stability when accessing your boat.
 
Marina facilities for boat users
Showers, Toilets and Launderette Facilities
 
Showers and toilets are located towards the far end of the marina. Open to moorers 24 hours a day. The Launderette has a washing machine and a dryer operated by tokens which can be purchased in the Chandlery.

At Nottingham Castle Marina, we are very proud of our extensively stocked Chandlery. We endeavour to offer good value for money and our staff are on hand for advice and information. So, whether its a tin of paint you need or a complete refit, come and visit the Chandlery today .Chandlery stocks include the following; -

All Nottingham Castle moorers benefit from a 10% discount in the Chandlery and a reduced rate for diesel via a discount card. The card is given to moorers upon arrival in the Marina.
 
 
Security/Parking
 
Nottingham Castle Marina takes security very seriously. We like to feel that we do everything we possibly can to make sure that your boat is left in a secure environment. The marina and car park are fully enclosed with access through one main electronic security gate. Only key holders can gain access to this area. Keys for the main gate are available in the Marina Office and require a £20 deposit and allow 24 hour access.  In addition keys for the gate onto the towpath at the far end of the marina can be obtained for a refundable deposit of £10. There is a marina caretaker on site after office hours, to respond to any problem you may have with our pontoon facilities and to make sure that the site is kept secure. Due to our unique canal location there is no risk of flooding, which is often associated with river moorings.

The onsite chandlery at Nottingham Castle Marina also supplies the following services to boaters from the main refuelling pontoon.
  • Diesel (rebated Gas Oil - not for consumpton in motor vehicles)

  • Pump Out & Elsan disposal statio
 
Recycling facilities are available on site at Nottingham Castle Marina.  Details of what can be recycled can be found on the bins provided.

Safety 
At Nottingham Castle Marina our primary function is to offer a safe, secure and enjoyable boating environment for all our boating customers. We want you to get the most out of your canal or narrowboating on the UK’s inland waterways plus be able to keep your boat in a marina with the best facilities and services.
 
To achieve this we draw all moorers attention to the following boat and marina safety points.
 
We have staff onsite 24 hours a day in the case of emergencies. The out of hours emergency contact number is 07801 529688
 

There are several potential hazards within a marina environment. Pontoons are  slippery when wet and icy. Please take care and wear suitable footwear. Please also take extra care at night and in strong winds.

Please leave no clutter, untidy cables or cycles on pontoons, these can cause a trip hazard and can impede access.

Children must be supervised at all times and must not ride in the trolleys. Lifejackets are advisable.

In the event of an emergency please contact the marina office immediately. You may want to make a note of the out of hours contact number. Harbourmasters are contactable 24 hours a day seven days a week.

Life rings and extinguishers are located around the Marina.

There is a first aid station in the Marina Office

Smoking is strictly prohibited near to the Pump Out, Diesel, Bottled Gas and Fuel areas

Any damage to pontoons, facilities or boats should be reported to the Harbourmasters immediately.

Please also do not allow oil contaminated bilge effluent to be discharged into the marina and be aware that hot central heating or engine exhausts can scorch wooden pontoons.

Nottingham Castle Marina is an inland marina situated in the heart of Nottingham City.

The marina is placed within a retail development close to the city centre of Nottingham. Offering you a variety of restaurants and large retail stores within 500 yards, or the abilitiy to walk into the city centre and have all the amenities that a large city could offer you.

Nottingham Castle Marina is located on the Nottingham / Beeston canal with access to the whole waterways network. Boaters can also access the tidal Trent taking you towards Newark and Boston. The opportunities for exploration are endless and will cater for every boater's requirements.

Flexi Berthing

At Castle Marinas our main priority is to provide a safe, secure and enjoyable boating environment for our narrowboat and canal boat customers.

We also off a flexible approach to an annual mooring. Castle Marinas customers in our five inland marinas can moor in any of those marinas providing space is available. We adjust what you pay in line with the tariff applicable to each marina for the time you spend there.

Its the perfect option if you like to vary your canal boating destinations from year to year as we have several inland marinas to choose from.
